What is floating?
Floating is one of the simplest, yet most unique, experiences dedicated to healing the mind & body.
Within seconds you’ll find yourself floating effortlessly in approx. 1,000 pounds of Epsom salt, in only 10 inches of water, while in complete darkness (or not if you prefer) and pure silence.
The water is temperature controlled for absolute comfort - as if you are floating in a cloud.

Physiological Benefits
For folks that suffer from chronic, or stress induced muscle pain, floating can be an essential part of treating and relieving pain. But how? Floating oxygenates your body through a process known as vasodilation (widening of the blood vessels to allow more flow to different parts of the body). This process helps to minimize pain in many parts of the body! Floating can provide a significant reduction in pain, anxiety, stress and mood issues for those suffering from numerous ailments.
-
Psychological Benefits
Consistent floating helps counter depression and anxiety by reducing cortisol production (putting the flight-or-flight response to rest). Floating also has relaxation, frame of mind, and positive effects on performance - most often in those experiencing burnout or fatigue.
-
Enhancement Benefits
Floating helps accelerate the recovery process from strenuous exercise by reducing lactic acid. While your body is floating effortlessly, it is taking advantage of this moment to release lactic acid out of the muscles. This process decreases muscle stiffness and pain (fun fact: floating speeds up this process). Floating also enhances artists of all types by resetting the mind from outside stimulation.
The beauty of floating comes with a variety of benefits for individuals seeking personal wellness. One of the questions to ask yourself is, “when was the last time I actually turned the world off?”
What to expect
If it is your first time at Sirona Wellness Spa, we suggest arriving at least 15 minutes early to prepare for your first float with us. We will cover some ground rules before we start and give you a tour while explaining how to float.
Once you are in your room, you’ll find some supplies that may be helpful to you such as makeup wipes, earplugs, and antibiotic ointment. You will then get undressed and shower before your float. During this shower, we ask that you shampoo your hair to remove any products and be sure not to use conditioner!
Next, you will step into the float tank and explore your comfort. Try out different positions with your arms, test out the float pillow, and play with the lights and sound. Your first float may take longer for you to find your comfort but you will get the hang of it.
When you hear the music change (or turn on if you had it off), it means that your float is now over. Please exit the float tank and head straight to the shower to rinse off the salt. This time you may use a conditioner if you’d like!
After you exit the room, feel free to head to our vanity room if you need to dry your hair or get ready for the day. Once you’re done, make your way to the post-float lounge to reflect, relax, and regroup.
